Within the Heart of Somerset are many places of historic interest and tourist attraction from Cleve Abbey through to the Somerset Distillery.

Within an hours drive of the property – at a leisurely pace – are many differing places of interest, we have highlighted some below and would welcome your recommendations for inclusion after your stay.

Cities & Towns

Exeter – our personal favourite – a very compact city with lots of car parks and everything is within easy walking distance. Beautiful cathedral and interesting underground walks should the dark side be your force!

Bristol – dependant on which way you enter the city either across from the M5 on or under the Clifton Suspension Bridge, via the A38 and past Rolls Royce or from the M4 and down the M32 past IKEA, you will enter a very historic or very modern part of the City.

As with a large city every convenience is near at hand including theatre’s, cinemas, nightclubs, bars and plentiful restaurants.
Bristol Old Vic is Britain's oldest working theatre. Renowned for excellent repertory programme, it hosts some of the best local and national theatre companies. T: 0117 9877877.

Other Features

More than just moors, Exmoor is just down the M5 and take a right at Junc 27. In an hour you can be in the heart of the beautiful Lorna Doone countryside in Dulverton. Exmoor covers 265 square miles of Devon & Somerset - 600 miles of public footpaths and bridleways, one of the loveliest areas of the U K stunning scenery, superb views, lots of attractions. Blue flag beaches, pretty villages, history, good food inns.

Also within the hills and moors lie Cleve Abbey, the ancient clapper bridge at Tarr Steps, National Trust Houses, Arlington Court, Knighthays Court, Dunster Castle and Mill.

The Quantock, Brendan and Polden Hills provide a wealth of walking and mountain biking trails.

For those who prefer a more relaxed pace then the South Somerset Cycle Way sets off from Langport (about 25mins by car) and bikes can be hired from there.
